Abstract:
What features must an act adopted by a Union authority enjoy in order to qualify for judicial review under the law of the European Union (EU/Union)? This thesis presents a new way to address the question of ‘reviewability’ of Union activities. To succeed this, it offers a theoretical framework of‘legal effects’ in EU law, which is the decisive criterion for determining the question of whether a Unionact can be subject to judicial review. Thereafter, the study applies it to assess the reviewability of selected case studies; specifically, the conduct of the European Central Bank (ECB) in the fields of banking supervision and monetary policy.
