Abstract: | |||||||
Gas-liquid partition chromatography is presented as a method for the analysis of the tar acid extract from a low temperature coal tar. The historical development of the technique is outlined and a description given of the essential features of the apparatus. The theory of gas chromatography is briefly stated and applications of the method are described. The construction and use is described of a gas-liquid chromatography apparatus in which temperature control is maintained by an electrically-heated air jacket.
