Abstract:
I critique three a priori claims present in the literature on the foundations of spacetime theories:--- 1. Spacetime structure has is chronogeometric significance necessarily. 2. The only candidates for representing physical quantities are objects which can be specified in a coordinate-independent manner. 3. Symmetry- and duality-related models of physical theories may be regarded ab initio as being physically equivalent.
