Abstract: | |||||||
This research was conducted with sir flowing through two pipes having dismeters of 7.5 and 15 inches respectively. These two pipes were connected by various tapered circular pipes having different angles of divergence. The loss of bead occurring at ant given connection was expressed as a percentage value of the estimated less occurring at a sudden expansion joint. The total quality of sir flowing through each cone was determined so that it was possible to estimate the mean velocity of flow. During each experiment the static pressures at various partitions along the pipes were recorded, so that the less of head due to the expansion joint could be determined. The enclosed graphs was plotted showing how the loss of head varied for pipes having different angles of divergence of the walls. This graph was compared with the results of researches continued by other investigators.
