The electrical conductivity and thermionic emission from cathodes coated with barium oxide and a mixture of barium and strontium oxides has been studied as a function of temperature in the range 2900 - 10000 degrees K employing cylindrical diodes containing a probe-wire embedded in the oxide coating. At temperatures above 500 degrees K the results obtained are in complete agreement with the pore-conduction theory of Loosjes and Vink. At temperatures below 500 degrees K an effect not previously reported in observed.
