Abstract:
This work was contemplated in a centre skilled in the evaluation of paraproteins and wishing to consider immunotherapy in relation to plasmacytoma. Accordingly the four introductory chapters review tumour growth, tumour immunology, tumour immunotherapy and plasmacytoma whence evolved the advantages of studying an ascitic form of stable plasmacytoma MP 5563 in inbred C3H mice. After validation of the chosen methods of study, chapters 5 & 8 described the monitoring of the actual number of tumour cells (using Cr51-labelled red cells to correct the volume of the ascites) and the relationship of these to the also monitored serum paraprotein level.
