In this thesis, stability theory and stable group theory are developed inside a stable type-definable set in a sufficiently strongly homogeneous and sufficiently saturated model of an arbitrary complete first-order theory. After a classification of typedefinable subgroups of the multiplicative group of a separably closed field of U-rank 1, a particular example of such a group is examined more closely as a counterexample to a type-definable version of a theorem in geometric stability theory and found to be, as a structure in its own right, superstable of V-rank 2.
