Abstract: | |||||
Norre Sandegard Vest is a sixth to eighth century cemetery on the northeast coast of the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic. 83% of the finds are from women's graves - this is due to the circumstances of preservation; the majority of textiles were found in association with metal artefacts such as dress accessories or jewelry. An analysis of the type of fabric discovered is presented. It can be concluded that dress and social standing were indissolubly linked.
