The present edition of the work [Nasha'at al-Sulafah bi Munsha'at al-Khilafah] is based on only one MS. Although we have been told that there is another, copy of it in Jedda , Saudi Arabia, all attempts to obtain a copy of it have proved unsuccessful. The work is presented in 2 volumes: vol. I contains the introduction and the indices for the text, vo1. II, contains the text. My introduction to this work consists of four chapters the first of which deals with describing the MS, the copyist, and the orthography. The second chapter deals with the author, his name, his life, his intellectual background and his other works. The third chapter is a critical study of the author's theory of the caliphate and his chapter "The court of the King". The fourth chapter constitutes an introduction to the historical section of the MS.
