Abstract: | |||||
The male sterility gene MYB26/MALE STERILE 35 is fundamental for anther dehiscence. In the mutant, secondary thickening of the endothecium fails and as a result pollen is not released. Previous studies have indicated that genes associated with secondary thickening are being regulated by the transcription factor MYB26 in an anther specific manner. However, the regulation and function of MYB26 that results in anther dehiscence remains largely unknown.
