Abstract:
Phoma stem canker is one of the most damaging diseases of oilseed rape world-wide. The disease is associated with at least two distinct pathogen species, Leptosphaer/a maculans and L. biglobosa. Only aggressive L maculans causes severe epidemics in the UK. Seasonal and regional differences in proportions of L maculans and L biglobosa in the UK pathogen populations were studied in pre-harvest stem samples collected from 2000 to 2003 in different regions of England and Wales.
