Abstract:
White Slip 'milk bowls' are found widely throughout Cyprus and the Levant in the eastern Mediterranean. Their distribution reveals the extent of the trading networks which are a characteristic feature of the Late Bronze Age (c. 1600-1200 BC) in the region. In addition, they have been used to make chronological links between Cyprus and neighbouring Near Eastern civilisations on the mainland. However, it is now recognised that there is considerable regional variation in the ceramic styles, and changes in style were not uniformly adopted throughout the island. In order to establish reliable chronological links, the regional boundaries need to be drawn.
