This report describes the addition of allyl bromide to benzaldehyde using polymer-supported chromium(ll) reagents. Six polymer-supported ligands for chromium(ll) were targeted of which four were synthesized successfully. The first ligand N-(2-hydroxy-3-(propenyl)benzylidene)benzylamine was prepared and polymerized to give the first PS-ligand. Secondly salicylaldehyde was reacted with 4-amlnomethylstyrene to give N-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-vinylbenzylamine. Further polymerization resulted the second polymeric imine ligand. (±)-trans-1,2-Bis-(2-hydroxy-3-tert-butyl-5-styryl)benzylldene diaminocyclohexane was prepared and two different polymers were synthesised.
