|
There are important post-natal changes in the heart: as compared to the neonate, in the adult, the intrinsic heart rate is slower, the sinoatrial node (SAN) and ventricular action potentials are longer and the transmural gradients in action potential duration across the ventricle become more substantial. These changes may be due to differences in ion channel expression.
