This thesis concerns a new monitoring protocol, the Early Support Monitoring Protocol (ESMP) that is being used with early identified deaf children from birth to three years and their families in England. The research aim was to evaluate from, the perspective of parents and professionals, the benefits and risks of the ESMP, a parent-held tool, to tracking the developmental progress of early identified deaf children.
