The aim of this work was to establish the technique of selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) clinically, and apply it to explore the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in urine headspace and breath samples from patients with various cancers (breast, colorectal, gastric, bladder, lung) and healthy controls.
