The problem investigated is the characterisation of conformal gauge singularities in cosmological models in general relativity, also known as isotropic singularities. We find conditions for an extension of the conformal structure through a cosmological singularity. The releva!1t concepts are introduced to phrase the problem in terms of tractors. A local extension theorem is proven and in the case of perfect fluid Bianchi space-times extended to a global extension theorem. Finally the conformal structure of the Schwarzschild, conical spherical and the Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi space-times are explicitly analysed for conformal extensions.
