Abstract: | |||||
Macrophages, the culprits of chronic inflammatory metabolic diseases, such as atherosclerosis, are instrumental in orchestrating innate immune responses and lipid homeostasis. Scavenger receptor A (SR-A), a myeloid-restricted clearance receptor for oxidized Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), contributes to the development of atherosclerosis through foam cell formation and potentially also through SR-A-mediated macrophage adhesion to unknown serum ligands.
