This thesis consists of three parts, the first two dealing with high, and third with low, Hartmann number flow in magnetohydrodynamics. The first problem treated is the determination of the magnetic field, velocity field and drag when a solid, insulating, elliptic cylinder is moving through a viscous conducting fluid, under the influence of an applied magnetic field. The second problem deals with the determination of the magnetic field, velocity field and flow rate when fluid is flowing, under the influence of an oscillating pressure gradient, through a circular pipe. The solutions in both these problems involve asymptotic methods, whereas the final problem, the determination of the couple on a lens slowly rotating in a fluid, involves integral equation methods. Each problem is explained in more detail in separate introductions.
