This thesis has been divided into four main sections. The first section is the introduction, which contains a review of both cyclopropane/-ene and carbene chemistry. Results and discussion are compiled in chapters three through six, and experimental details are provided in chapter seven. Finally the appendix, chapter eight, contains X-Ray crystallographic data, as well as IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopic data of a number of the compounds.
