|
The primary object of this study was to isolate and follow the rate of breaking of the RO-NO₂ bond in alkyl nitrates (RON0₂) for R=Me, Et and i-Pr. This was achieved by using small nitrate concentrations (1 x 10⁻⁴M), low extents of reaction in the presence of isufficient nitric oxide (2 x l0⁻⁴M) and high total pressure of carbon tetrafluoride.
