Abstract:
The properties of the conducting polymer poly-5-carboxyindole in aqueous solution have been investigated. The pH dependence of the electrochemistry of the polymer is explored and an application as a pH sensor proposed. The use of the polymer as an electrode material to investigate the bioelectrochemistry of the redox protein cytochrome c is shown. Finally the results of investigations using inorganic redox couples in order to probe the mechanism of electron transfer between the polymer and solution species are presented.
