Abstract:
The area is situated on Latitude 63 o N~ about 100 km south of Godthaab in West Greenland. Pre-Ketilidian, (Archaean), quartz-dioritic banded gneisses form the basement to a series of basaltic supracrustals now metamorphosed to amphibolites. Basaltic magma has differentiated into minor, thin layers of ultramafic rock within the gneisses, and predominant, higher-level, anorthositic and leucogabbroic rocks within the supracrustals. Metamorphism and deformation have destroyed most of the original igneous textures.
