Abstract:
The object of this investigation was to study the effect of lime on the physical and chemical properties of the surface and sub-surface layers of several soils typical of north-east Scotland. For this purpose both field and laboratory methods were used. In the laboratory, investigations were carried out both on the soils and on the clays separated from them. Turnips were grown in order to study the effect of liming on the yield and chemical composition of the crop.
