Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the use of quantitative methods in taxonomy. Comparisons are made between, several quantitative methods and the relative mertis of these and the kinds of taxononomic information they produce are examined. To provide data on which to base those comparisons, measurements were made on the skulls of 20 hominoids and on the skeletons of 64 rodents.
