Abstract:
A p-local finite group (S,F,L) is a triple, where S is a finite p-group and F and L are categories which are modelled on the conjugacy relations of a finite group and approximate its classifying space up to Fp-cohomology. Every finite group gives rise to a unique p-local finite group for each prime dividing its order, however not every fusion system is the fusion system of a finite group.  In 2007 two independent constructions realizing fusion systems as fusion systems of infinite groups appeared in the literature, one due to G. Robinson and one due to I. Leary and R. Stancu.  In this thesis we study various models for fusion systems and their cohomology.
