Abstract:
This thesis is an investigation into Instant Messaging (IM) in young people's everyday lives in a multilingual community. Informed by concepts from the New Literacy Studies, this study understands IM as a social practice involving uses and production of texts. The overall focus is to explore IM in terms of activities and text-making.
