Abstract:
This thesis examined the impact of using aptitude and personality tests on the predictive validity and fairness of the selection of undergraduate students. The work was set in the context of the present government's widening participation policy, which aims to increase participation m higher education (HE) of students from under-represented groups, especially lower socio-economic groups, and the challenges that this agenda presents to a meritocratic concept of good admissions practice.
