Abstract:
Halobacteriufm sp. NRC-1 is an extremely halophillc archaeon used as a laboratory model. Its high UV resistance makes the UV response in this organism particularly interesting. DNA microarrays have been used here to study the global transcriptional response to short-wave UV (UV-C) and mid-wave UV (UV-B). From analysis of four DNA microarray experiments using different UV doses (30 J/m² UV-C, 70 J/m² UV-C, *5 J/m² UV-B and *30 J/m² UV-B) several conclusions can be drawn.
