Abstract:
The work in this thesis is the first study to date that takes an important step towards developing of a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methodology for modelling of Windage Power Loss (WPL) on a shrouded spur gear. The methodology is developed for an annular model (inner rotating disk) then to a two- and finally a three-dimensioional spur gear model. Computational results are analysed and compared against experimental data and grids densities including cell type, modelling and numerical solution control parameters are identified.
