Abstract:
This thesis explores the secondary school buildings of the tripartite system created after 1944 in order analyse how the material structure of these buildings contributed to perceived gender, social class and power inequalities. The thesis is concerned with changes made to school buildings between the 1944 Education Act and the major Education Act of 1976.
