Abstract:
The thesis investigates the dynamic processes by which indigenous, Amis students in Taiwan construct their cultural identities through interacting with their sociocultural environment. There has been growing concern on the part of the government and indigenous people themselves regarding the alienation experienced by young indigenous people both from their own culture and from that of mainstream, Han society.
