Abstract:
Much of what has, so far been written, about the UAE federal experiment was mainly descriptive rather than analytic. Neither its chances of present and future success nor its role as a model for Arab and other developing countries has been fully assessed. The aim of this thesis is to assess the UAE federal experiment in terms of its present and future success and as a workable model for Arab and other developing countries. However, without thoroughly examining the Union's socio-economic and political achievements through rigorous means, the answer to this question will always be shallow and incomplete. However, by surveying and examining the views of both UAE ordinary citizens and high-ranking figures, a tenable thesis should emerge.
