Abstract:
Any technological revolution produces an impact on society, changing ways of living working and interfacing with the physical, social and cultural environmenent. It is widely accepted that the concept of the information society is only just beginning, but there is no doubt that the effects of information and communications technologies are already changing the ways we live and work. One major impact of the present revolution is the evolution of telework, defined in this thesis as "electronic work from a distance". This is now challenging traditional working patterns and allows individuals to work at a time and place of their choosing.
