Abstract:
Heat Shock Protein 90 (Hsp90) is a molecular chaperone, critically important for many of the proteins in eukaryotic cells (the Hsp90 "clients")- This project used the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae to investigate how Hsp90 regulates a model client protein (Slt2p/ERK5 MAPK) and how, by subtle Hsp90 mutation, this chaperone can become resistant to the Hsp90 inhibitor radicicol (RD).
