Abstract:
In recent years, there has been a vast increase in the number of cinematic texts which one might wish to call self-reflexive, but very little critical analysis of the self-reflexive impulse. In response to this, I attempt in this thesis a poetics of cinematic self-reflexivity, concentrating on Western narrative cinematic praxis.
