Abstract:
Recently, there h~ been an increasing amount of research investigating coping in Alzheimer's disease (AD) from the perspective of the person with AD. These studies have been mainly qualitative in nature and have involved heterogeneous dementia samples, making it difficult to know to what extent the results can be applied to the AD population. Objectives: 1) to investigate and develop a coding system to describe how people with AD cope when faced with situations that are challenging to memory and may expose their memory difficulties. 2) to consider variations between individuals in patterns of frequency and distribution of use of the main strategies.
